You can adjust the amount of the sliders in the prefs. I wish I could hold a button on the DM2 and have the jog wheels become rate sliders temporarily but I can't without messing with a PD patch or the driver (now that it's open source'd yay) or possibly the new midi scripting, none of which I've had time to play with.
