[This is a resend. I had attached a .png screenshot to the previous

That link suggested updating scons. Upgrading from 1.0.0 to 1.2.0-r1
made the problem go away. Thanks to Garth for pointing it out to me.

So this allowed me to progress further. I did notice that mixxx is
incapable of running out of its build directory and seems to need to be
installed before any testing at all is possible. Or maybe it was just
confused by the 1.6.1 I already had installed. (Thus it overwrote
1.6.1, which in hindsight was a bad thing since the older version worked
better for me in general.) If a user wants to test a new install before
overwriting the previous (properly set up and known working) version, it
would be nice to have this fixed.

Also, I built with "scons" and installed with "sudo scons install", but
apparently running scons as root forces it to rebuild and relink all of
the object files, so now my build tree has a bunch of files owned as
root and I can't build as a normal user any more.

Next issue, the numark total control mapping needs a little work. The
jog wheels move their track forward no matter which direction you spin
them (and seem to be rather more sensitive than I'm used to), and the
crossfade slider's motion is reversed. I move the slider to the left,
the one on the screen moves to the right, and vice versa.

I noticed "Crossfader" was the first item in the midi wizard thingy, so
I set that and exited the wizard. After that, the crossfader was the
only control which worked (though its motion was still reversed). And I
didn't see a "Crossfader" entry in the mapping table, so I wasn't able
to find a place to manually adjust it.

While we're on the subject of midi controllers, the numark came with two
placards, one for Cue and one for Traktor. They're just labels, pieces
of plastic with some writing on them, but they have rather different
button layouts. Mixxx's binding seems to conform to the Traktor
placard's layout, but I've grown accustomed to the Cue placard, having
used it with vdj and dex. Should I submit another mapping for the other
placard? (Are they still just xml files?)

Next issue, I started mixxx, and loaded the Collusion (1280) skin. My
thinkpad's display is 1280x800, which I guess is a little too small
(vertically) for this skin. Mixxx didn't tell me this, and it looked
and worked fine anyway, maybe it just chopped off a little bit at the
bottom. But after restarting mixxx, I could no longer move the window,
selecting fullscreen removed the window borders but did not move itself
to the upper left of the screen (see screenshot at [1]). While that
may or may not be a serious bug, but it was definitely surprising
behavior. I guess it probably should have prevented me from using the
skin to begin with.

Next issue, my collection has accurate bpm tags, I've actually spent a
lot of time measuring and verifying those. Mixxx wasn't able to read
them, the bpm column is just "0". Though I'm not sure whether that's
mixxx's fault or libsndfile's; I'll follow up on that later. So for now
it seems the only option is to enable mixxx's own bpm detection, which
may or may not be accurate and kinda defeats the purpose of having a
well tagged collection.

So that's what I noticed on my first run through the new beta. Hope you
don't mind the big list. I just want the best quality 1.7.0 release
possible, so I hope this helps.

Mark
