Hi Folks,

Sent this a couple of days ago but never received it back so not sure it
ever got through somehow. Anyhow...

I'm new to Mixxx and the list - Firstly like thank all devs for their
excellent work; please keep it going.

I'm a 64bit Ubuntu Studio 8.10 user. The OS came bundled with Mixxx
1.6.0 (or similar) which had poor Hercules MK2 support. So I compiled
1.6.1+Herc from source and later (that day) 1.7.0-beta1 from source. I
had both these working fine with my DJ Console MK2.

But at some point it all went a bit pear-shaped. 1.6.1+Herc would not
communicate at all with the device (see no midi data appearing in my
console window), and now with 1.7.0-beta1, the jog wheel behaves oddly.
Load a track (but don't press play), turn the jog wheel slightly
clockwise and the tune goes in to super fast-forward, turn it back
slightly, the tune stops, turn it back (anti-clockwise) again, and it
goes into super rewind.

Also, the Loop/Cue/Fx LEDs used to act as basic level meters (I think),
but now they don't.

All other buttons, pots & faders are working fine.

I've tried deleting ~/.mixx, /usr/share/mixx and recompiling but the
same thing's happening. Tried the latest 1.7 branch and the same happens
with that too.

The software itself seems to be behaving ok, so this seems like some
kind of MIDI mapping/herc driver problem.

At some point I did get a kernel update from 2.6.27-11-generic to
2.6.27-14-generic, not sure if that could affect things but not it here
anyhow. To be honest I *think* these problems started before the kernel
update anyhow.

I can happily get in #mixxx (as Ximmer) to run though anything if that's
helpful. I popped in there just now an Pegasus_RPG said jumpkick and
rryan are good with Hercs. You guys able to help?

Thanks in advance,

Jim.
