Hi guys,

We had our Mixxx 1.8 meeting today and the slides are now available for
your reading pleasure here:
http://docs.google.com/Present?docid=dd557nj5_28fvx8jkgx&skipauth=true
These provide a decent overview of the current state of Mixxx
development.

There's also minutes to go along with the slides here:
http://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/5_17_2009_developer_meeting_minutes

To summarize the meeting briefly:
- Our main focus of 1.8 will be the new library and looping.
- We'd also like to see development continue on M4A support, MIDI,
LADSPA, Shoutcast, and the BPM detection (using BPMDJ's code). If any of
these features are finished by the time looping and the library are
done, they will be included with Mixxx 1.8.
- We'd like to encourage new contributors to hack away at LADSPA and
Shoutcast since they're reasonably modular and only need relatively
minor work to finish them up.
- All new feature development will be done in branches. When features
are done (release quality), they'll be merged into trunk. The slides
show the 1.8 branch as being the target of these merges, but the
consensus was that "trunk" will be the target. The 1.8 branch will be
created once a feature freeze is in place.
- Bugfixes should go in the existing 1.7 branch. Once we have enough
bugfixes, we'll drop a 1.7.1 release, etc.
- We're going to work on some sort of "Getting Started" page for new
Mixxx contributors that explains all of our branches, development
process, etc.
- RJ's been working on some super secret build server stuff that he'll
announce sometime in the future. :)

If there's anything else I forgot, please send an email!

Thanks for attending guys, and I hope this info is useful for people
that weren't able to come as well.

Albert
