Hi Everyone There seems to be a large proportion of "this is broken is there a fix?" type emails on the list at the moment and I'm feeling like there are not too many people out there who actually have time or access rights to resolve these issues. Personally I would like to see more users step forward and take an interest in maintenance of the PortAudio implementation -- I understand that there is a learning curve involved but many of the pending issues simply require learning how PA does things. I think there are not enough people actively working with this understanding at present, and although I don't want to be alarmist about it, it is a problem which needs to be addressed. I know Arve has already indicated his unavailability to make major contributions on Linux due to health reasons and I think it would be best if someone else can step forward to take over from him -- he has made a massive contribution to PortAudio over the years and although his input is always welcome I don't think it's fair to continue with a situation where he is expected to keep going because no one else has stepped forward. Can people please ask around to see who would like to contribute? This would entail maintenance and upgrade of ALSA and/or OSS PA versions (could be one or two people, more even!) As far as I know Bjorn is still committed to maintaining the CoreAudio implementation but isn't very available at present. I have taken an interest in CoreAudio of late but it would be nice to see some more discussion on-list about the CoreAudio version (I know the Plogue guys have some unmerged patches for example). Based on current trends it doesn't look like I have much time to action development of unfinished features on Windows but I am happy to review and check in patches (and perhaps merge forked code) where I feel I have sufficient expertise. I'd also be very happy to help out with guiding anyone who wants to address any of the pending Windows issues in Trac. I'm considering resetting all the Trac tickets to "Assigned to: No one yet" because the current assignments may be giving people the impression there's nothing to help out with. There have been some great patch contributions and bug-finds from new (to PA) developers lately and I'm keen to encourage more of this. We should probably discuss a new roadmap too, but first it would be good to work who will implement it.
