M4A support is ready for testing! I just flipped the m4a flag so that it is on by default in trunk. A few weeks ago M4A stability was fixed so that it doesn't crash on all the M4A files we could find, and I just committed some fixes for the audio quality issues we were seeing with libfaad2.
You will need the equivalent of libmp4v2-dev and libfaad-dev on your system to build it. On Windows, you will need to use the prebuilt libfaad DLL in the mixxx-winlib folder of trunk. If you're currently running off of trunk, please give it a shot and let us know how it goes. If you find any files that don't work PLEASE send us a copy. If you have trouble building on your platform, let us know by filing a bug. If you're having trouble building and you don't care about m4a support, build with scons m4a=0 to get back to normal.
