On second thought, I'm still feeling lukewarm about this PPA idea in general. We already produce amd64 and i386 .debs ourselves, and our scons makeubuntu target also generates our source tarball which can be used to build the packages. I think you'd have to upload the source deb generated from the build to the PPA. In other words, a PPA isn't going to give us any capabilities we don't already have besides being able to push releases via a repository.
So the obvious question is then, why do we need to use Ubuntu's infrastructure? Why don't we just host our own repository downloads.mixxx.org instead? I'd be way more comfortable with that.
