Ok, took a quick pass at this and so far so good. I don't see a way to do
voice over though? I could use what's here for basic broadcasting with
pre-recorded announcements but doing a live show with it would be pretty
tough. Come to think of it I never found a way to do that in Mixxx in
general. Is that not supported.

I'll keep working with this a bit and see if I can shake out any issues. But
in general it was pretty ease to set up a stream and get going. The only
thing I'd love to have that was missing (other than the mic support I
mentioned) is some sort of stream status on the main page. But other wise
this looks like good stuff.

Subject: Re: [Mixxx-devel] Shoutcast support and windows (32 or 64)

Dear all,

a shoutcast preview install package based on current Mixxx 1.8 is now
available on: (Thanks Albert for uploading)

http://downloads.mixxx.org/mixxx-1.8.0-beta2/mixxx-1.8.0-beta2-shoutcast-pre
view-win32.exe

The shoutcast preview has been compiled against a customized QT 4.5.3
version to avoid OpenGL problems. Moreover, it is now possible to record
mixes to Ogg and Mp3. The first works out of the box but to enable MP3
recording and streaming the following steps become necessary:

1. Download LAME 3.98.4 binaries from http://lame.bakerweb.biz/
The ZIP file includes x86 and x64 DLLs

2. Unpack the archive and copy the libmp3lame.dll from the x86 folder
to the location you have installed Mixxx
Rename the DLL to lame_enc.dll

Please note that Audacity and other web-sites provide lame binaries, too. It
has been found out that most of these are not compatible with the official
header file "lame.h". In particular, the pre-compiled lame_enc.dll of
Audacity cannot be used because ID3-tag related functions are missing---
which might be required when recording a mix to MP3.

Enjoy and report any bugs to https://launchpad.net/mixxx !

Great Tobias, I'd be glad to give it a try and provide feedback. I'm trying
to replace the need to buy SAM and this looks promising. If it's even close
to what I need I can probably provide some development help as well. I have
many years of coding experience (more on Unix/Linux but Windows development
isn't a huge problem).

I'll look forward to your note about a binary being available.

I can provide a install package for Windows 32 Bit. It is supposed to
work well the plan is to include it in Mixxx 1.9.
Just give me some days. I need to build a customized QT 4.5.3 to avoid
OpenGL issues. It would be great if the shoutcast preview could be
uploaded to Mixxx download server. Otherwise, I upload it to my own web
space for short period of time and post a link to the mailing list.

Thanks for your interest in the prospective shoutcast feature!

Is there perhaps a binary available that includes the shoutcast support

for

windows 32 or 64bit? Does shoutcast work on Windows? If so but I need to
build one I can give that a go but I wanted to see if there was an easy

way

to take a test drive of it before I go down that path.

Thanks in advance for any help!
