Greetings all,

Just thought I would take this time to introduce myself to the Mixxx dev
community. My name is Tom Mast and I'm currently a computer science student,
finishing up my undergraduate studies. I actually started off my collegiate
career as a music major, but switched over to programming once I realized
what I wanted to do with my life. I've been following Mixxx off and on for a
few years now, taking interest in it after one of my friends worked with the
team for the GSoC program. I've always been a 'bedroom DJ' for small house
parties and mess around constantly with digital and vinyl
sampling/scratching just for fun. The Vinyl Control additions to Mixxx have
been very interesting to me, I've ordered some control records from my local
store so I can get some hands on experience with it.

This summer I am hoping to participate with the dev team as GSoC student.
I've spent the last week hanging out in IRC trying to get to know the
community, as well as get a feel for how problems/suggestions with the Mixxx
code are handled. I'm still debating on the project I would like to work on
over the summer, but have been browsing through the wishlist as well as the
proposed projects to help me decide.

I also wanted to get a feel of the process to actually working on the code
so I have been working on one of the bugs/wishlist items. You can view my
branch here lp:~thomasomast/mixxx/features_softstep (related bug entry:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/197696). Let me know your thoughts on
the changes as well as any suggestions you may have on the corresponding bug
page.

I hope to contribute more!

Tom
