Hi Keith, 

Mixxx does not write the metadata back to the files. 
Here are the bugs that may explain why:  

Bug #728197 
Bug #667849 

This behavior of Mixxx is puzzling me to. I think some other players like 
banshee have the same problems. 

Clementine-Player has its tag read and write managed in a different process. 
Maybe we can solve our problem if we use also the "clementine-tagreader"     

In general I have the opinion that Mixxx is not the right application to 
beautify the track library. There are many applications out there which do a 
quite good job. The question for me is whats the right way to have the best 
benefit for Mixxx. This topic was also discussed in Bug #911743
