Hi Robert,

I too am thinking of applying for the GSOC this year. For me, there's
no better way of learning a new piece of software than to dive in and
learn as you go. A good way of getting yourself acquainted with the
code base might be to take a look at a few of the easy bugs, and think
about how you'd go about fixing it (and maybe submit a few patches).
