While WOT is certainly a good idea, i question that this has an effect on a significant number of potential drive-by/scam victims, because people who install WOT plugins are already thinking actively about their safety, they are not the main target group of Evil Profiteers™.
Currently, they even laugh you in the face with blatant false advertisement: "Every product that is run through the I***Q manager is free. But, in order to make this happen, I***Q shows you advertisements during the installation process. Your support of these advertisements, which are all safe and free to download, helps poor, but brilliant, app developers make money from their free and awesome software." I dont know if/how disputes were settled in the past, but with the example of "DIGITALDJPOO" they provide no source code and clearly misuse the Mixxx trademark (the app screams Mixxx all over when installed), so what about enforcement of trademark and prosecution of copyright violations?
