Daniel Schürmann: "Do you have added your new source files to the source
section in
mixxx/build/depends.py line 400ff?
This may solve your build problem"
Yes I believe that's exactly the info I needed; thank you very much!
Daniel Schürmann: "Maybe you should also have a look at
lp:~smstewart91/mixxx/advanced_autodj<https://code.launchpad.net/%7Esmstewart91/mixxx/advanced_autodj>and
http://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/gsoc2012_autodj_features?s[]=autodj.
You may adopt some of those ideas or just give us your opinion about it."
I think this, in a beautiful way, is simultaneously complimentary to yet
distinct from my goal. It looks to me like advanced auto-dj is a way for
autodj to make new transitions between songs, whereas my idea is (at least
initially) a way for autodj to reproduce prerecorded transitions. In this
way, the two can work wonderfully in tandem: Use recorded transitions where
they exist (there will of course be a setting to toggle this on or off),
and otherwise fall back on the advanced auto-dj transitions. I think I'll
wait until the GSOC auto-dj code is added before I start factoring my
implementation into auto-dj (mine will really just be a logic branch before
the rest of the code activates). Do you know how long this might be?
Tangentially, is it possible for me to have some sort of mentor-esque
support, as in the GSOC project? I'm not exactly sure what that entails,
but I do want this to be relatively legitimate and believe that the help of
a real dev would ensure that.
Adam Davison: "About 5 years ago I wrote about 80% of the code you're
asking for
here."
Thanks for the tip; I'll have to take some time to even figure out how to
go about finding it. I found the README.macro, and it does sound exactly
like the latter half of my implementation, so I'm sure it'll be super
useful. Is there any chance rryan will read this and enlighten me as to
the code's location? :D if not like said I'll seek it out when I get the
chance.
