Hey Steven,
The LADSPA feature is one of the first efforts there was to integrate
effects into Mixxx. There were 2 GSoC projects to get it integrated but the
last mile is difficult (GUI integration, etc.). Beyond this, the projects
were too narrow in scope since they were too wedded to LADSPA and wouldn't
generalize well to other plugin types (like VST which is by far our most
highly requested plugin format).
I am working on a new effects system that creates a generalized effects
backend that supports multiple plugin formats (internal plugins, LADPSA,
LV2, VST, etc.) and represents them in a unified manner for
GUI/MIDI/HID/keyboard control.

Work on the project is stalled because I've been pulled into 1.11.0 work
for quite a while now. There's a branch with a working internal flanger
