howdy, I'm looking for contributions from friendly CDJ owners so I can compare low-level playback differences between various CDJ models/manufacturers. I don't care about high-level features & buttons, only basic characteristics like reloop length, FF/REW speed and track change delay, say.
F.ex. when pressing play/pause (while adjusting a cue point) on a European Pioneer CDJ-100S the reloop audio duration is ~130 milliseconds at the beginning of the CD but grows to ~250 milliseconds when relooping near a CD's outer edge, with a non-variable 7 millisecond silence before each reloop. I.e. a reloop on track 1 goes like [130ms audio] [7ms silence]... [130 ms audio] [7ms silence], etc, but near the last track's end it goes [250ms audio] [7ms silence]... [250ms audio] [7ms silence], etc. This behavior is immediately noticeable on short Audacity samples. I suspect newers CDJs behave differently because the loop is probably buffered in RAM. Are there CDJ owners out there who'd be willing to email me two short reloop Audacity samples (one at a CD's beginning, the other at the end) so I can make sure my timecode driver works with their models? It doesn't matter what music you play as long as the sampled regions are noisy, i.e. not Orb-like ambient :) TIA! -- p ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get 100% visibility into Java/.NET code with AppDynamics Lite!
