Hi, I am interested in writing an android-app to control mixxx. There are already some options with DSMIDIWifi and DJControl but there are some missing features i'd like to have: - Feedback for controls - could be implemented via DSMIDIWifi of course - Manipulating autoDJ-queue, skiping tracks, crossfade, ... - See wich tracks are currently loaded and maybe browse through playlists and load tracks.
My thoughts on this problem: The first things could be done by simulating an midi device and forwarding those signals via wifi somehow. But when it comes to the last point I think midi is out of scope. I don't have much experience with midi - not to say none, and I may be wrong, but I think this is impossible with midi. What do I need then? Somehow I have to get information on Playlist-content, crates and loaded tracks, need the possibility to load tracks via scrips which I can then trigger by an external 'server-application' talking to my android app. I thought about an DBus interface, maybe implementing MPris and some additional Features. Maybe we would need 3 'virtual' mpris-players, one for each deck and one for autoDJ. MPris doesn't really reflect mixxxs setup of decks and so on but would be some kind of standard-following. Maybe we should better think of an own structure for an DBus interface - I don't know. I would be interested on your thoughts about this idea - how would you like to see such an feature implemented in mixxx?
