(CCing to list)

Not to deter you from using Mixxx, but it sounds like more traditional
play-from-a-playlist applications would better suit you, like Clementine,
Amarok, WinAmp, etc. Have you looked at those or am I misunderstanding your use
case?

But none of these provide good preview/pre-listen mechanisms, if I am
right. I can run two instances of the same software but that would be
too cumbersome. I like the way Mixxx lets me simply pre-view a track
anywhere with just a mouse click.

I will. At this point though, I am more interested in getting the
playlist behavior changed for a stable Mixxx release. Because I don't
expect for all stability issues and other bugs to be resolved before my
gig in three weeks. So, if there is a way to get a stable 1.11 release
compiled in order for me to make my customizations, that will be great.
Of course, in parallel I will port my changes to the master branch.

Okay. You are certainly free to work on the 1.11 code. It can be retrieved from https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/tree/1.11

 > That's certainly possible and I would even say easy, since it would
just be a matter of adding (yet another) preference option tied to a
small conditional code block in the play list handler that simply skips
the deletion or re-queuing. But I've never worked on the playlist code
myself.

You should do the work against master then submit a pull request in GIT.
That way the feature can be added to a future Mixxx version. (The 1.11
code is quite old and much has changed since then.)

Thanks, I will do that. But as I mentioned earlier, I just need the
feature to not remove songs from the playlist. If I can get that on top
of 1.11, then I would be the happiest person on this planet! 1.12 has
some serious issues. For starters:
-- Clicking on 'AutoDJ Enable' button does nothing. You have to
manually start the song on the deck.
-- Crossfader doesn't change to the correct deck when using
AutoDJ. For example, if song on Deck 1 finishes and song on Deck 2
starts to play cross fader doesn't move towards Deck 2, as a result, you
can see the song playing, but no sound will come out of the master output.

These are two main issues in version 1.12 that I can recall off the top
of my head. So you can understand why I don't want to use 1.12 for my
upcoming gig in three weeks.

Thanks for patiently reading my emails and answering my questions.

Thanks,
Seemanta
