Great that someone is taking this up! :) Do you plan on adding support for scripting the keyboard? I don't know if that would be beyond the scope of what you can get done for GSoC. If someone implemented https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/374239 , then users would be able to extend the functionality of controller mappings by using a few keys on their keyboard to change the behavior of the controller.
It would be great if you took up this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/1343112 . That would make Mixxx more usable with just a keyboard.
