I have thought about such sticky, or favorite pan feature. The issue her is
that you cannot see what will happen before you click on a feature button.
A pin feature, where the pane feature using the pined pane cannot be
changed does not suffer that. The icon should be similar to this:

I know that this does not fullfil my original requirement. It is less
smart, end requires some more clicks for some use cases but at least they
are there. The big atwantage is, it is easy to understand. I have learned
from our discussion that this is more important.
