tl;dr we applied for GSoC this year. We'll learn if we're accepted February
27th.

A good rule of thumb is that a GSoC project is something an expert Mixxx
developer can take care of in a weekend.
We have a bad track record of projects merging into Mixxx. By my count, 8
projects out of the 25 total since 2007 have merged into Mixxx. To improve
the situation, last year we tried to require that projects have concrete
merge-able milestones, but didn't do a good job of sticking to this. This
summer we need to do a better job of keeping the scope smaller and
splitting into small deliverables. Please keep this in mind when posting
project proposals.
