I think it's more a matter of the 100 being discounted a little bit and the 50 seems stuck at full list price. > > Then too the 50 is unidirectional (analog -> DV) while the model > > 100 can do both analog -> DV and DV -> analog. > > Ah I did not know this....Although (being new to this)....What could > be the reason for going from DV -> analog? just wondering.. Make a VHS or 8mm tape to send to someone? I could see doing the capture, editing and so on with DV and then record a tape to send off. > Well I have a bttv card that for just recording tv shows like drew carey > is just fine, it's not outstanding quality but for watching once and Are you capturing at full frame (640x480) for going to DVD or SVCD? ;) The WinTV cards are great for watching TV and doing VCD resolution work but I found it to be a lot of work to get DVDsized movies made with them. > So just to ask, if you use the canopus to record shows, how does your > computer changes channels on the source you have connected to it? Oh, I don't do much at all with TV - broadcast TV reception's terrible where I am and there's not enough worth watching (for me) to justify the expense of cable. Others have mentioned a remote setup and doing all the TV recording (and induction into a MySQL database, etc) with a Canopus box being used for the data.
