[Mjpeg-users] trouble using mpeg2enc on dv files

I am trying to encode some files that I dumped off of a dv video camera
with dvgrab.  I dumped the files in dv2 format.  When I run mpeg2enc on
them I get this line.
**ERROR: [mpeg2enc] Could not read YUV4MPEG2 header: bad stream or frame
header!

if I try to use lav2yuv I get a seg fault.

am I using the right tools?
