I can only comment on one thing: > I was thinking in terms of recording with DV OR zoran and playing back > *WHILE* recording. > > Requirements (beyond what you specified): > > I For Zoran (rec) + Zoran for (play) > - snd card needs to be able to sample and play at the same time > (impossible?) Any newer card which supports full duplex should be able to do this. Older SB16's can't, though, I've noticed. Just to interject what I'm doing, I currently use "streamer" from the xawtv package to record to .avi, and use xine to play it. I can record and play simultaneously with this solution using a Hauppage WinTV card (so I realize that doesn't necessarily map to your DV/Zoran solution). The WinTV card's audio out goes to my sound card's line-in, which I have zeroed out (not muted), which allows streamer to still capture the sound to the .avi file, but not be heard on the speakers. xine's playback of the .avi file is what comes out the speaker, so there can even be time-shifting involved -- as long as you don't advance to the end of the stream. xine stops playing if you do that, which is the only thing that bothers me... > - lavplay -p -C needs to be able to play at a proper framerate without > the index at the end of avi > - speecified temp file of avi index in separate file until lavrec ends > (then simply append). > - increased IPC for lavrec/lavplay for simultaneous rec/play > - to implement: inform any lavplay process when there is a > a) new frame or > b) new file (2GB max) > c) end of recording > > II For DV (rec) + Zoran playback > - realtime dv to lav converter with same IPC mechanism above > - snd card only needs playout capability > > Thoughts? > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Ronald Bultje" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "John Ribera" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Cc: "Mjpeg - list" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 11:23 AM > Subject: Re: [Mjpeg-users] OT: MythTV.org > > > > Hey John, > > > > On Tue, 2003-02-18 at 16:06, John Ribera wrote: > > > Looks really great, but if you have a non-v4l, ie, zoran based, card > > > > The zoran driver is fully v4l compliant.
