So if for example you had an image of a building against a blue sky, if
        you looked closely next to the edge of the building there would be ghosts
        of the building edge adjacent to the edge in the playback image of the
        blue sky.  Credit lettering and station ID bugs also exhibit the ghosting
        due to the sharp edge transitions they create.  The ghosts will be faint,
        and from a normal TV viewing distance, you will likely not see them, but
        if you look right up next to the TV, you should see them.

I'm seeing these sorts of artifacts in the DV right from the camera,
actually.  Actually a little different - I'll see a ghost image of an
entire dark area shifted off quite a few pixels, Not at all sure what
to make of that.

I'll have to try some clean DV footage in sunlight to see what the
effects are in that case.  I guess I shouldn't need any of these
tricks for that.
