No, it changes the break point from one every 700MB to one every 650MB. I.e. it always inserts break marks (sequence-end/sequence-begin) regularly. You can only choose how far apart they are. If you want no break, set the interval to a value larger than the total size. > Anyway, the only situation where one would like to use a lower setting > than 730 would be if s/he wanted to burn the MPEG on a data CD instead > on a SVCD: > > A 74 minute CD has 74 min * 60 s/min * 75 sectors/s = 333000 sectors, > and holds 333000 sectors * 2324 B/sector = 773892000 B / (1024 * 1024) > B/MB = ~738.0 MB of MPEG2 data in CD-ROM XA "Mode 2-Form 2 block" format > which SVCD uses. Yes, in general you want to set it to a value larger than the default. BTW, VCD/SVCD lose some 600 sectors (8 seconds) to the first track and the gaps. > And I usually want to break MPEG2 to smaller chunks anyway because my > DVD player has very slow fast forward/rewind so it is quicker and more > precice to split the SVCD in chapters. There was tutorial "Chaptering with entrypoints" by Michael Tam at the VCDimager site that makes for interesting reading, IIRC.
