Why do you want to force a SVCD to be treated as VCD ?
You can also create a VCD/SVCD/DVD in Linux. For VCD/SVCD you use
vcdimager/cdrdao. For DVD just use dvdauthor, and the dvd+rw tools (also
support now DVD-R/RW)

Why force ? Just use the right option, and it will work on most HW
players fine.
