        Yep.   posix_memalign() is broken in earlier versions of glibc - at
        least that was the common factor in a couple reported cases.

        Checked the archives of the mailing lists? ;)

        A new release candidate is due out soon which contains what is
        hopefully a workaround for the malloc/posix_memalign problems.  

        If you can't wait that long then 'cvs update' will get the latest
        attempt at fixing the malloc problems some folks have reported.
