        HD is beautiful - but since nothing at the moment can really play it
        back real time (except IEEE1394 export back thru the set top box) I'm
        downscaling to widescreen DVD format.   The one DVD I've made so far
        came out looking fantastic (good clean source material).

        Can try that the next time.   What I'm doing now is just recoding the
        entire ~6 hour HD capture - the downscaling (even on a 2GHz G5) is the
        limiting factor so the encoding'll take about 30 hours - then I can
        run LVE on that to slice it up since at that point it'll be the
        standard 720x480 frame size.

        Thanks for the pointer - it looks like LVE'll be useful (just at a 
        slightly later step in the process).
