Hello,
I'm trying to compile mjpegtools. 'configure' seemed to run fine, but when I run
'make' I get the following error:

"/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lX11"

...and make throws an Error 2.

I've installed the following debian packages from the 'stable' dist:

xfree-86-common_4.1.0-16woody3_all.deb
xserver-common_4.1.0-16woody3_i386.deb
xserver-xfree86_4.1.0-16woody3_i386.deb

In my search on the net to resolve the problem, I found this suggestion:

"It turns out that the /usr/X11R6/lib directory isn't part of the default ld(1) search
path, so I needed to have the flag "-L/usr/X11R6/lib" somewhere before "-lX11" in the
offending command."

but I'm afraid I don't have enough know-how to know what file to edit and where to
insert this, if it will indeed solve the problem. I've also seen a suggestion that I
would need the xfree86-dev package, but I wasn't able to find anything like it to
install.

any help would be appreciated. thanks,
Daniel
