        All those "underquoted" errors are harmless and are a result of
        automake being over picky about things.

        well enough - but I did update autoconf and automake like you did.

        I encountered the same problem.  I think it is libquicktime related.

        Can you try doing a cvs update in the libquicktime directory?  I _think_
        I fixed the problem - at least the problem no longer happens to me :)
