Greetings.

I'm trying to automate the multiplex of 2-4 hour 192Kbps MPEG1 Layer 2 audio
streams with an ultra-low bitrate MPEG1 "timecode" video, to produce music DVDs
with DVDauthor.

The timecode video file (352x240 29.97fps GOP=6) averages less than 90Kbps, and
has I frames that are less than 2000 bytes (ie: 1 packet). It plays just fine
in quite a number of places.

I am having consistent problems with the mplex'd output; the video plays at 2X
speed, though the audio is perfect (mjpegtools 1.8, 1.6, tcmplex, and some
others). I have tried quite a few different sets of source files with no
difference. It does not matter whether I mplex -r???? -h -b??? -V -f8, -f0 or
-f2.

it's worth noting that lvemux has issues as well - but different ones - the
audio gets mux'd in at half the rate it should - it plays okay in software
players, but the audio + video get further and further apart in the file and
seeking is attrocious. But I digress...

I've checked the source video and resulting .mpgs with several mpeg3* and mpg*
utilities, used gop_fixup, replex, and still no solution. Under Windows,
TMPGenc's own DVDAuthor application does the multiplex just fine, so I suspect
maybe a subtle mplex bug being triggered by the excessively low video bitrate,
but I'd be happy if somebody could spot something I'm missing.

I did find that if I just put a frame_rate/=2 in videostrm-in.cpp I can get a
file that plays right, but I'm sure that's not really the right way to fix it.

Anyway, check out the file if you can (a 256KB dd'd cut, mpeg1 352x240 29.97fps
VBR 1150k peak, but average less than 90k. encoded under Windows by latest
TMPGenc+ 2.5) http://asterisk.appliedtns.com/mpeg/timecode.m1v

Thanks!
