This is essentially what my revised workflow has been since early 2005 when the libdv issues cropped up. I use the hvirtual cinelerra and to gain full control over the mpeg encoding I intercept the y4m output by replacing the supplied mpeg2enc.plugin binary with a shell script which pipes to my own mpeg2enc command pipe. It works well, saves time and results in a significant quality improvement compared to the use of a DV intermediate file. Not having to have HDD space for a large DV file is also helpful. Yes, I know recent "Cinelerra-CV" releases allow y4m output to an arbitary pipe but for various operational reasons I am not currently running this "community version". > And BTW: *do not* use Jpegs for titles or something. No, never. Regards jonathan ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
