Yes, I can record, but the resulting images show a zig-zag pattern that probably can be explained with what you say below: the signal is actually composite video, but it goes into a S-Video connector, so that luma and chroma are mixed together. > Normaly you should get a better picture because S-Video has one wire for > the luma, and one for the croma. That will normaly give you a better > quality than a cable where you have both on one wire (like you vae it on > a composite cable) Got it. But as I said above, my signal comes out of the video camera or the satellite receiver as composite video, it cannot become S-Video, though the connector at the other end of the cable is S-Video. > The picture should look the same, and lavrec sould also work if you > select the correct input. Okay, you definitely convinced me. > > the 2nd mail from you: > That sound s good. But from the other mail it seems as if it is not > working reliable again. I believe the card is okay, just the RCA input connector is damaged. I will try to fix it by myself or with some external help. The problem I encounter right now can be explained as above, I think. > You can't split Composite to S-Video. You need something like a comb > filter. As I said above, I will try to fix the RCA connector and see if I can record againg from composite video, since I simply don't have any source with S-Video output connector, unfortunately.
