I don't know a solution with the mjpegtools that can do what you want.
You can check if mplayer accepts sources form stdin, mplayer can (could) output the video to a zoran device, where you can view it on a TV. The "problem" with is that lavplay uses stdin for commands that control the video playback and editlist creation. One other thing that comes into my mind.
