I may be able to shed some light on the question at hand.
First, Teflon is PTFE, or polytetrafloroethylene... that means many
groups of five flrine and ethylene molecules... it's slippery plastic...

Second, those cylinder walls are probably nickel coated, not chrome
plated... as in they basically take a wire of nickel and blow it up
covering the walls with nickel which is extremely hard and durable. The
hard chrome process is completely different from the standard copper,
nickel, chrome strike process... and EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!!! It's more
complicated then reversing current.
Third, Nikasil is nickel and silicon... no, not silicone!!! Nickel is
extremely hard and silicon, as we all know, is even harder. Basically
they are forming a metal matrix composite which is stronger then the two
seperately. Even the Honda NSX has this now...
Fourth, just so y'all know that I'm not shooting down ideas without
helping, here is the phone to Performance coatings so that you can get
your stuff coated for a reasonable price.
Clayton Petree
Maybe if you tell him that I sent you he will cut me a deal on my
coatings!?!?!?

of course you could have the walls moly impregnated ...reduces friction
as
well ...not sure if i got the process name but i think that is wat its
called.
