The 1.8t runs a low 6psi in stock form.  With just a chip you bump that up
to 12-14psi and that gets you about 50hp.  You can mod that engine out to
about 300hp, depending on the money you want to spend.  Check out
www.tap1.com for some examples.

Road and Track had an article on some German Tuner cars.  There is an
Ottenger 1.8t Bora in there tweaked out to 230-250hp.  It launches the Jetta
in 6.x seconds.  The 60-100 times are probably more impressive though.

You need the 4motion if you want a driveable car with over 250hp.  Otherwise
torque steer is nearly unmanageable.
