The OEM brakelines don't have any staneless steel on them at all. They
are just a thick rubber. Unless you are talking about the hard lines that
run under the car (I don't know if they are SS hardlines or not.)
Flexible SS brakelines have the stainless steel on the outside to prevent
the rubber (or teflon, or whatever they use) from expanding like a
balloon when you press on the brakes. The higher quality ones also have
another rubber coating on the outside of the SS braiding to prevent dirt
and other particles from getting trapped in the braiding, which can cause
chaffing. They give the pedal a firmer feel, but they aren't extremely
noticeable. I would recommend them if you have to change your brakelines
anyway. You can get them for under $100 from various tuners. The only
problem I had installing mine was removing the two lines underneath the
car that attatch to the rear axle. There are six different lines you have
to install. Two up front, two in the rear, and two under the car. Get
some flare nut wrenches also, don't use an open end or adjustable wrench.
Adios!
