You shouldn't get air comming in through your shifter unless there is something seriously wrong with it. If there was, you would definately know. If one of the shifter box bolts was missing, you would feel it in the shifter. If the plastic cup that holds the shifter ball was missing, your shifter would pratically fall out (it would if you took off your shift knob. Pull the shift boot (or gator) and examine everything just to be safe. Adios!
