Speaking of which, make sure you have the correct tools to do the job, if you're doing it yourself. I have an FF code tranny sitting on my garage floor in pieces because I can't remove the bearing retainer that bolts to the inside of the case. And to top it off, my local VW stealership WON'T sell me the tools! wtf? I thought that they carried the vw tools just like they carried parts? Anyway, I'm switching the 3.89 R&P out of the FF and into my AGB. Should make for a pretty close box. I ordered the bolt kit and brass synchros for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th from VL Enterprises for the diff. (but they haven't gotten here yet... doh) I will also be purchasing the throw out bearing, and already have all the seals I need. Don't let anyone tell you that rebuilding one of these trannies is easy, cause it isn't! My dad has rebuilt about 10000 bus and beetle transmissions, along with countless fords, and even he is having troubles helping me. The Bentley is very ambiguous if you don't know exactly what the proper name for each part is.
