I'm referring to the dynamat material.  VW uses some of the most
tenacious adhesive I've ever encountered.  It's much easier to remove
if it's been waterlogged in the past.  A few minutes of quick freeze
(dry ice) and the material becomes brittle and breaks up easily.  

Figure dry ice costs of roughy $1/lb - 30-40 lbs should be
sufficient.
