Lately, my car has been making a kind of "wheezing" sound while accelerating in any gear. Just tonight it's become more audible and pronounced. A couple times while changing gears it almost sounded like the gears were grinding, yet the clutch was fully depressed. Also note that the clutch cable is adjusted properly, so I doubt it's a clutch release problem.

Any ideas? Is this thing self-machining on me? Should I get the car to New Dimensions before I'm left stranded? Anything I can do to diagnose what might be wrong? Maybe I'll drain the tranny fluid and see what surprises fall out...
