But stiffness isn't necessarily what you want in an accident...it's hard to
get a frame construction to crumple properly.  A good unibody is WAY better
if you're planning on hitting a tree.  Part of the reason that frame
contruction does well in US government crash testing is that they're  more
concerned with intrusions into the interior of the car than with
accelerative forces experienced durring impact.  Sure, you're less likely
to get broken legs in a frame constructed car, but I'll take broken legs
over brain damage any day, thankyouverymuch.

I'll take a big Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, or Lexus over a full-sized
truck in a 55 mph frontal impact ANY day.  (assuming I'm not hitting
something full-sized truck size.
