Matt, listers, et al... Any chance any of you might have a factory '91-92 Digifant airbox lying around? The reason that I ask is that I am 99% of the way to getting my hybrid car smogged. I found a place that doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to VW's. This worked in my favor, because they didn't notice the motor swap, and put it through as an '86 GTI. To my amazement, the car passed the emissions tests with flying colors, but then the tech came back saying I failed the visual inspection. Apparently he thinks my car should have a thermostatic air filter, like the Digifant cars have. Obviously, he's all wacked out since my car never was a Digifant car. The guy was literally poring through Chilton manuals for two hours trying to figure out what the heck kind of motor I had in there. Even after all that, he still hadn't caught on. What he's asking for makes no sense, but who am I to argue? The bottom line is he'll pass me if I can get the Digifant airbox in my car. Gotta love the smog check program...
