Wow...
I have to admit, I am impressed. I started the car up at about noon today,
broke them in for an hour or so, then got on it. Definitely a big noticeable
gain over the euro intake. I think I may have lost a tiny bit of low end (less
than 3k), but from 3k to 6.5k, its absolutely sick. I haven't brought it out
on the highway yet, but will probably check that out tommorrow. Or maybe
tonight...
Anyway, the bit of low end I may have lost is probably due to the fact that
the car is timed a little differently now. You know how when you change a
timing belt/install cams, you line up the cam mark, and the crank mark, then
tighten the timing belt. Well, at least for me, the timing always gets thrown
off a bit when the belt is tightened (hence shifting the power curve up or down
a bit). But, this time I messed around with my cam gear, and probably have the
most accurate cam to crank timing possible. I lined everything up, tightened
the belt, then readjusted the cam gear (with the valve cover off to see the
little dots on the cam gears) and lined it up (flywheel and cam) perfectly. I
don't know I never thought of that last summer when I did the engine swap.
I also had a 42mm intake laying around, so I added that as well. Power
gains? Maybe 0.5 hp at 6000rpm, who cares. Maybe better MPG though. Lastly,
I did a Gtech run last night before the swap (no time to 1/4 or 0-60, only HP).
I have no idea what the car currently weighs, so I used a baseline number that
I will use again. I will probably do another run either tonight or tommorrow
and post the difference with the cams.
That's it for now.
