I know this topic is a little played out, but I'll offer my canyon carving
experience. For starters, that road was for pansies and lasted all of 30
seconds. Stop and go through quick in one of 2 ways: 1) at a time when
there is no traffic, 2) when there are no cars in front of you. Based on
the fact that neither of those are options, I'd say you lose.

Sorry, but for those of you who live in areas where 2 turns in a row on a
road make it the hot setup, why bother? Just go to a track and have fun.
If you are too poor (like me) pay $25 and autocross. It is a fun way to
drive like an ass and not get busted.

Now out here, there are enough deserted canyon roads that I can launch
myself off of on my bike where there are infinitely more turns and less
traffic. In that case, it is my fault if I mess up and I am endangering no
one else. I don't play in town or around cars.

Every single time I go to Alice's in the mountains here (big biker hangout)
I see 2 or 3 ambulances go by to pick up the remains of a squid from either
his own stupidity or an idiot 4 wheeler. Last week when I was up I saw the
EXACT same bike as my new one that went off a cliff come through that the
subframe was snapped off and everything else either crushed or torn off.
This is a busy mountain area that tourists like to come see and therefore
create problems. Serious riders adhere to option one above and get to the
base of the mountain at 6 am or so. That and I am waiting for Vanson to get
my new leathers so I can hit the track!!!

Either way, none of the cars in any of those videos were fast enough to
drive like that- thus why I have a bike. :)

Well,...not to say it is as safe as the racetrack,...but you'll notice I
stayed in the yellow lines the whole day.....my friends however got a little
carried away... I do intend on going to the racetrack, and making my black
car a track only car as a matter of fact. There is a Auto-x this weekend
that I planned on attending for the first time, but I wont be able to,...but
I will soon.... - Josh

Let me be the first to say.... save it for the f'ing track. There's a
reason the good lord invented race tracks, helmets, and roll cages. That
way, if you're going to kill anyone, it's going to be yourself, and not
anyone else. Yeah yeah yeah, "I'm a good driver, I can handle it", etc
etc.. I only hope I don't end up on the same roads that you drive on. I
mean for fucks sake, the blue jetta almost hit a buick head on at while
crossing the double yellow at about 60mph. And for what? To get a little
bit ahead. This sort of thing just makes me sick.

There was a time when I would do this sort of shit, but then I had a real
reality check- hitting a tree at 50mph tends to do that to you. I only
hope you get a reality check in some other vehicle than your GLI, so you
don't fuck it up.
