I really hate to do this, but for my own peace of mind I have a couple questions.
Over the past week, my GTI 16v has been really dogging and the idle has been adjusting itself all over the place. However, the idle never moved during a particular given outing, and was stabilzed well when all electrical devices were turned on. Essentially, the idle kept getting lower and lower. I checked the screw and I could turn it with two fingers easily. As the site said, I kept adjusting it in till it passed the 4000-1400-900 test. However, if the engine is revved up very low (about 1200 or so) and let to idle the motor really craps out and dips to the sub-400 range. However, it does not stall or almost stall like it used to. I tried turning the idle up even further (it's at about 800 now) but it didnt seem like the screw wanted to turn any more. Is it safe to use more force on this thing? Any other causes? The stabilzer seems to be fine... Again, I'm sorry for the newbie idle question. -Mark _____________ List Sponsor: http://www.netsville.com To remove yourself from this list, send mail to [email protected] with 'unsubscribe a2_16v' in the body of your message See us on the web at http://www.a2-16v.com Visit the 16V Homepage at http://www.gti16v.org
