Hey guys, For the last month I've been complaining that my car hasn't been running right. Well, I think I just cured the higher than normal temps, fuel milage, hesitating and lack of power.
I had changed about everything I could think of... The car is set at stock 6deg advanced timing, new Beru Super X plugs, new Beru cap and rotor, new fuel filter, new thermo switch, new vacuum lines, Flushed coolant and using VW coolant, Mobil 1 Synth 20W50, Cleaned all electrical contacts. Well, after running almost a can of throttle body cleaner spray while the car was running and playing with the RPMs may have cleaned out some carbon. I also decided to advance the timing by feel. All I have to say is that all my problems have gone away, the car runs about 110C and uses less gasoline. To advance the timing I engraved a line from the distributor to where the dist. mounts on the head and cranked the dist. about 5mm clockwise. WOW! what a difference. It really woke the car up and has very impressive pull all over the power-band. If the Garett chip can make a bigger improvement over advancing the timing then I'm going to pick up a G-Chip tomorrow.
