Installing inserts isn't overly difficult but you'll need a spring
compressor and a good sized vice (or something to hold the strut
while you break the cap free).  

While you're there, you'd benefit from replacing both the upper strut
bearing and the ball joint.  Given your mileage, they're both
probably due - even if they aren't shot, the parts are readilly
accessible.
