My brother had cut neuspeed lowering springs in his '87 GTI 2.0 16V in high school. He was running on Boge progas. He had the car for a little over 2 years, and drove it a lot, and the shocks didn't go bad. The ride wasn't too bad either. I've used Boge turbogas before, and I'm using them now on my '91 GTI 16V, with neuspeed lowering springs, without a problem.
I've always used Boge, and they haven't given me any problems.
