i had the speakers on the door panels though, so they wre set
back about 2" from the speaker panel on the door pocket. and i lost
alot of midrange becuase of it. there was a cavity about 6x6x2 which
allowed alot of sound to get lost. plus my windows wouldnt go down all
the way.
i was going to build a box that would move my speakers closer to the
speaker grills, but it turned out to be a pain in the ass, and then i
sold the car.
then i bought a VW without the aktiv system.

So why didn't you mount the speakers to the grill itself like they are
supposed to mount? It works quite well for me.
